Westfield 'Meets Expectations' In PARCC Assessment

WESTFIELD, NJ - On average, the Westfield School District has met expectations in terms of the district-by-district, school-by-school PARCC results released this week.

Patch put together the rankings, from top to bottom, for each grade (high school math was broken into Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II). You can see the complete ranking of every school here.

Many districts in New Jersey performed in the "Level 4" and "Level 5" areas, which is between the scores of 750 and 850, the latter being a perfect score. The score breakdowns are as follows:

Level 1 (650-700): Did Not Yet Meet Expectations
Level 2 (700-725): Partially Met Expectations
Level 3 (725-750): Approached Expectations
Level 4 (750-799): Met Expectations
Level 5 (800-850): Exceeded Expectations

In third grade English Westfield ranked 81 with a 773 score. In fourth grade English Westfield ranked 89 with a 776 score. In fifth grade English Westfield ranked 67 with a 777 score. In sixth grade English Westfield ranked 157 with a 766 score. In seventh grade English Westfield ranked 203 with a 769 score. In eighth grade English Westfield ranked 110 with a 778 score. In ninth grade English Westfield ranked 59 with a 770 score. In tenth grade English, Westfield ranked 39 with a 775 score. In eleventh grade English Westfield ranked 10 with a 769 score. In twelfth grade English Westfield ranked 10 with a 769 score.

In third grade math Westfield ranked 48 with a score of 775. In fourth grade math Westfield ranked 50 with a 770 score. In fifth grade math Westfield ranked 33 with a 772 score. In sixth grade math Westfield ranked 57 with a 762 score. In seventh grade math Westfield ranked 84 with a 759 score. In eighth grade math Westfield ranked 149 with a 738 score.

In Algebra I Westfield ranked 141 with a 773 score. In Geometry Westfield ranked 46 with a score of 755. In Algebra II Westfield ranked 30 with a 756 score.

The PARCC tests have been a source of controversy for years, and Gov. Phil Murphy has talked for nearly year about finding replacements for the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers test.
Patch focused on town school districts, charter, vocational and magnet schools. Please note that many students opted out of taking the exam, though New Jersey hasn't said how many.
