Westfield Memorial Library Director Participates In 'ALS Bucket Challenge'

Westifeld Memorial Director Phil Israel is the latest community figure to participate in the “ALS Ice Bucket challenge”.

In the video, Israel said he was challenged by his staff to take the challenge in August. In return, he challenged them to raise about $300 before he did.

The staff of the Westfield Memorial Library are not stranger to the effects of ALS - In 2005, Louise Wlliams, the library’s technical service department director, was diagnosed with ALS.

Williams lost her battle with her diagnosis the following year, according to Israel in the video.

“It was terrible to watch this talented and vibrant woman being consumed by ALS,” said Israel.
