Westfield Native, Broadway Playwright Coming Home For Special Event

WESTFIELD, NJ — Marc Acito, the playwright, novelist, and humorist, is coming back to his native Westfield for a special conversation surrounding using the real world to create art.
The ticketed talk is the latest installment of the Rialto Center for Creativity's Spotlight Series and will be held on Feb. 12.
Acito grew up in the town and went on to graduate from Westfield High School in 1984. He then went on to study musical theatre at Carnegie Mellon University and Colorado College.

Acito's career stretches from the stages of Broadway to the New York Times and has garnered him multiple awards and honors. These include the Charles MacArthur Award for Outstanding New Play and the Craig Noel Award for Outstanding New Musical.
The talk at the Rialto Center, located at 250 East Broad St., will run from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and showcase Acito's work that was shaped by his local upbringing, his views on how to continue creative works over decades, and what he sees as the future for the Rialto.

"We're thrilled to have him back home to talk about his work, including projects that were inspired right here in our town," said Bill Crandall, president of the Rialto Board of Trustees.
Tickets are available now. A digital stream will be available after the event for those who are unable to attend.
