Westfield Restaurant Puts On 'Show You Can Taste'
The newly-expanded Spice Bazaar offers tableside prep led by their chefs.

WESTFIELD, NJ - Since settling into their new, larger space on Elm Street the folks at Spice Bazaar have committed to serving up not only dinner but a show for patrons. A show you can taste.
According to the owners, the modern Indian dining eatery is offering an interactive dining experience, in which the chef visits the diner with a trolley and prepares the dish by the table, feeding into the curiosity of the diner, along with tantalizing all the senses.
“Everyone’s been to a typical sit-down dinner. We wanted to do something different” said one of Spice Bazaar’s owners, Kanika Vij-Bakshi.”

According to Vij-Bakshi, no other restaurant is doing anything like this and Spice Bazaar is drawing in crowds and fully booked reservations because of it.
Another owner, Simran Bakshi said the new feature was a big draw.

“With tableside prep, people have something exciting to look forward to along with their meal,” Simran Bakshi said.
In their smaller venue in town, Spice Bazaar was known as a casual dining restaurant, but the owners said those days are past.
"Spice Bazaar will no longer be known as casual dining as we have designed a more vibrant environment, making it into Modern Indian Dining" said Bakshi.
Owners said dishes at Spice Bazaar include Indian flavors that can't be found anywhere else in New Jersey with an upgraded menu that include new selections such as, guava oysters, pineapple avocado tacos and spiced pork ribs.
Since opening last month, the new Spice Bazaar is getting amazing feedback from customers who witness the show, owners said. Owners noted that patrons said they love the ambience and feel as if a lounge-like ambience has transported them to fine dining in New York City and that the interactiveness is a big hit and people can’t help but to take out their phones and record.
Some of the menu items prepared tableside include, The Chocolate Ball Smash, a dramatic chocolate ball smashed on the table while the chef curates the dessert tableside, using fresh ingredients. After smashing the chocolate ball, applause follows and the chef walks away, owners said. Chefs also prepare Chicken Tikka, grilled vegetables, Shrimp Turmeric, Salmon Fish Tikka, Tandoori Chicken a Tandoori Mix Sampler, Tandoori Octopus, Lobster Kerala Moilee and Seabass tableside. Diners have the choice to choose between traditional to new items.
"We would love for you to check out our new space and give your honest feedback," Bakshi said.
