WESTFIELD, NJ — Dr. Neil Sheflin, an Emeritus Rutgers University professor and a member of the Rotary Club of Westfield, led a club Q&A session dealing with the state of the U.S. economy, and other economic issues.

Topics touched on included inflation (slowing), prices (staying up) and labor market conditions in the U.S. (not bad). Also discussed were the federal budget, the budget deficit and the national debt, monetary policy, the Federal Reserve and interest rates, the fundamental issues of competitive market economies and the role of government.

Of course, Supply and Demand was included as well. Questions about the future of Social Security (fixable), whether crypto currency was a good investment (not so much), and how Covid affected the economy, during and after the crisis, were fielded by Dr. Sheflin.
