Westfield's Tim Carroll to Compete in Reebok CrossFit Regionals
Carroll will face some of the strongest and most in shape men in the world competing at the 2012 North East Regionals.
Lifelong Westfield resident and local trainer Tim Carroll heads to Boston this Memorial Day weekend to compete in 2012 North East Reebok CrossFit Regionals. He placed 8th in the 2011 North East Regional.
Carroll will face some of the strongest and most in shape men in the world competing at the 2012 North East Regionals.
“I like competing, I like getting out there and testing my ability,” said Carroll, owner of CrossFit 908 in Berkley Heights, where he does all of his training. “A mixture of power lifting, olympic weightlifting, and endurance training were my focus this past year."
The regionals are designed to test extreme physical fitness. Throughout the three days of grueling CrossFit workouts, Carroll will be tested of his endurance, strength, and agility and hopefully will own one of the 2012 tickets to the Reebok CrossFit Games.
Carroll trained for several months before heading to the Regionals.

“My goal of reaching the CrossFit Regionals keeps me disciplined and focused on my training and diet,” said Carroll. “I do it to push myself, but I also do it for my clients.”
As a gym owner and trainer, Carroll emphasizes team work and motivation to achieve fitness goals.

“My clients see that I train hard and keep a strict diet which allows them to believe in what I do. It gives them confidence that this program works and shows them that they too are capable of achieving such goals.”
At its core, Carroll describes CrossFit 908 as a motivational group training environment.
“What most CrossFits strive to do and what we definitely strive to do is give our members enough attention that they are performing movements safely, but they are also getting the motivation from a coach to help push them beyond certain milestones. It’s definitely a teaching environment, but more importantly, it is a learning environment. So, members who want to learn, do the best.
As challenging as it is rewarding, CrossFit 908 provides an inspiring experience that has the potential to drastically improve one’s lifestyle. Just before leaving for regionals, members of CrossFit 908 completed an 8-week physical fitness and nutrition challenge.
“The results were astonishing!” said Carroll.
Members became physically stronger all the while dropping weight and adopting a healthier lifestyle.
“I was 292 pounds when I started, I was afraid and nervous, and worried that all of these “fit” individuals would judge me, well they didn’t. I was welcomed with open arms.” said member Meghan Hurd. “At CrossFit 908 they cultivate a culture of acceptance, determination, motivation and support. In two months I have lost 25 pounds which is more that I have been able to in over 5 years of fad diets, wasted money and wasted time. I feel better, my joints do not hurt as much and I can finally take of my engagement ring without soap because my swelling has gone down. I am so excited to see where this is going to take me and for once I am up for the challenge.”
Rest assured, if you dedicate time to CrossFit 908, it will return the favor.
