Westfield Students Send Holiday Letters To Troops

Roosevelt Intermediate School students recently wrote letters thanking troops for their service.

WESTFIELD, NJ - The holidays were made a little brighter for troops by Roosevelt Intermediate School students who sent them thanks via letter.

Students in Karen Lust’s classes wrote letters to military troops overseas to thank them for their service and to brighten their lives during the holidays. Roosevelt is among the many schools, scout troops, churches, individuals, and other community organizations throughout Westfield, Cranford, Kenilworth, and Scotch Plains-Fanwood that participated in making more than 3,000 handmade cards, ornaments, and decorations this season, an annual effort organized by Westfield resident Colby Sheppard.

With the help of the American Legion in Westfield and several other organizations, Sheppard sends out the packages of cards sponsored by Surgent’s Elite School of Gymnastics in Westfield.
