Westfield Teen To Host Swim-A-Thon To Benefit Homefirst

Sophie Braun, a 13-year-old Westfield local, is hosting "Make a Splash Swim-a-Thon" to benefit Homefirst on Sunday.

WESTFIELD, NJ — Sophie Braun, a 13-year-old Westfield local, is hosting "Make a Splash Swim-a-Thon" to benefit Homefirst Interfaith Housing and Family Services on Sunday.

The event will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center of Central Jersey at 1391 Martine Ave., in Scotch Plains.

This is the second year Braun will be hosting this fundraiser. Last year she had 30 swimmers that raised a total of $3,000 for Homefirst.

Swimming with Sophie will be her swim team, The Barracudas.

Homefirst provides transitional, supportive and permanent hosing, homelessness prevention assistance and services to individuals and families. The goal of the individualized supportive and housing services Homefirst provides is to foster self-sufficiency.
