Westfield Welcomes New Recruits To Youth Police Academy
Registration for the program is free.
WESTFIELD, NJ — The Westfield Police Department is accepting applications for its 2026 Youth Police Academy.
Students will begin each day with a basic military drill and physical fitness activities before moving into a classroom setting.
Criminal, juvenile, and motor vehicle laws will be discussed along with court systems, crime prevention, and criminal case processing.

Special guest speakers and demonstrations from other law enforcement and safety agencies will also be a part of the program.
This includes basic first aid and CPR courses.

Students who are graduating grades 8 through 11 in 2026 are eligible for this cost-free program.
Along with an application, a reference letter from a non-family member, and a filled-in medical clearance form from a physician are both required.
The deadline for applications is June 5. The program will run from July 13 through July 17 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
A graduation ceremony will follow at 5 p.m. on July 17.
