Dangerous Winter Weather Targets Westfield: See Impacts, Snowfall Totals

WESTFIELD, NJ — The Town of Westfield, like much of New Jersey, is still on alert for a winter weather mix throughout the day on Monday.

Forecasts for sleet and ice are making for dangerous travel conditions, and a winter storm warning was in effect through 1 p.m.

As of the last National Weather Service report, 10 inches of snow have fallen down around Town.

Drivers should still stay off the roads unless travel is absolutely necessary. The Town said this prohibition will last until at least midday on Monday.

Cars parked on the street are subject to tickets from Westfield Police. Vehicles in Lot 4 behind Baron's or in the Memorial Pool lot should be removed no later than 2 p.m. on Monday so the lots can be cleared.

Tickets will also be issued for cars left in those two locations.

Curbside recycling for Zone 1 was moved from Monday to Tuesday. All other zones will be delayed by one day this week.

Town Hall and the Conservation Center are both closed on Monday. Westfield Schools are also closed.

Sidewalk shoveling is the responsibility of each property owner and must be cleared within 24 hours after the snow has stopped. Shoveling or blowing snow into a plowed road is prohibited.

Any downed wires should be avoided and treated as if they were live.

The 9-1-1 line should be used for emergencies only. This includes downed wires that are arching or sparking.
