Westfield's Addams Tavern To Re-open This Week

A year after closing down for safety renovations, the popular downtown eatery is poised to make its return.

WESTFIELD, NJ - It has been nearly a full calendar year since the Addams Tavern shuttered its doors in order to undergo renovations required by the landlord. But now it seems the business is poised to open its doors to patrons once again.

As to when? Well, that is still undecided.

As part of her Mayor's Report for the Tuesday meeting of the Westfield Mayor and Council, Shelley Brindle confirmed the long-awaited opening.

"Addams Tavern is re-opening this week, just in time for the holidays," Brindle said.

On Dec. 3, Superior Court Judge Katherine Dupuis ruled to allow the restaurant to reopen, pending the issuance of a certificate of occupancy. According to officials, the building still has to finish some handicap accessible modifications, but it would not preclude the restaurant from opening.
