2 Dead After New Year’s Day Shooting In Essex County
Police are investigating a double homicide that took place in Essex County on New Year's Day.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Authorities are investigating a double homicide that took place in Essex County on New Year’s Day. The victims were both from Orange, according to a joint statement from Essex County Prosecutor Robert Laurino and Orange Police Director Todd Warren.
When officers arrived on the scene around 7 p.m., they found two men on the 100-block of Taylor Street in Orange, both suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim, later identified as Randall Price, 50, was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:44 p.m., authorities said.
The second victim, Rodney Chery, 41, was transported to University Hospital in Newark where he underwent surgery and was pronounced dead from his injuries at 10:40 p.m.
