At Least One Injured in Pleasant Valley Way Crash

Driver: Teenager ejected from car

A 19-year-old man was ejected through the back windshield of a compact car, according to witnesses of a three-car accident that took place at 5:30 p.m. near the corner of Pleasant Valley Way and Mt. Pleasant Avenue in West Orange.

West Orange Police Department cordoned off the area from onlookers and the Essex County Prosecutor's Office also appeared on the scene.

Police officials said the injured individual was taken to University Hospital in Newark, which is the nearest trauma hospital to West Orange.

The driver of one of the cars involved in the crash, told a Patch reporter on the scene that his passenger was thrown from the car through the rear windshield.

Witnesses at the scene said they heard a "big boom" and then heard people nearby screaming, "call 911."

Police blocked off Pleasant Valley Way from Mt. Pleasant Avenue to Buckingham Road.

The accident remained under investigation. Police at the scene did not identify any of the drivers or those who were injured in the crash.
