Bad Weather In West Orange, Forecasters Say: Snow, School, Jitney
West Orange is preparing for an early winter storm that's predicted to hit towns across New Jersey.
WEST ORANGE, NJ — Bad weather may be on the way, forecasters say. And West Orange is among the towns preparing for an early winter storm that’s predicted to cause problems across New Jersey.
In some parts of the state, forecasters are calling for as much as a foot of snow on Monday and early Tuesday. The forecast for West Orange was more modest, with the National Weather Service predicting daytime snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches and nighttime snow accumulation of an extra 2 to 4 inches.
The West Orange Public School District held an early dismissal on Monday due to the weather forecast. All after-school activities were canceled, officials said.

School administrators offered an update on Monday afternoon:
"All WOHS students have been picked up & dropped off. Middle School students are completing drop-offs as we speak and Elementary School students are being picked up for drop-off as per early dismissal schedules. We are monitoring bus locations. We have not heard of any major issues, just minor delays due to road conditions and buses erring on the side of caution. Thank you for your patience and understanding."

- Due to the inclement weather, the West Orange Public Library will be closing at 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 2
- The weather forecast also impacted a township event featuring Santa, who was forced to cancel his scheduled visit to West Orange on Sunday
- Trash and recycling was slated to be picked up as scheduled on Monday, Dec. 2. "The township asked residents to place their trash/recycling at the curb and NOT in the streets to allow the Department of Public Works to swiftly conduct snow removal.
The weather also impacted local jitney service, officials said.
