Holidays Coming To West Orange: Christmas Tree Lighting, Santa

West Orange will hold its annual Christmas tree lighting event, and Santa Claus is coming to town.

WEST ORANGE, NJ — West Orange will hold its annual Christmas tree lighting event, and Santa Claus will again visit the township for the 2019 holiday season.

According to a municipal event post, the “Old Fashioned Christmas Tree Lighting” event at Town Hall will take place on Saturday, Dec. 7. There will be complimentary hot chocolate and cookies, organizers said.

The festivities kick off at 4 p.m. with a petting zoo, photos with holiday characters (bring your own camera) and a Kwanzaa booth from the West Orange African Heritage Organization.

At 5 p.m., the event will continue with “season’s greetings” from Mayor Robert Parisi, a musical presentation from Vienna The Music School, and a dance performance from Unique Performance Arts Center in West Orange.

At 5:30 p.m., there will be a raffle drawing and a musical presentation from The Jazzy Ladies.

The event will conclude with the tree lighting and arrival of Santa at 6 p.m.

SANTA COMIN’ TO TOWN

Santa Claus will also come to West Orange for his annual tour, which will be stopping at several schools on Sunday, Dec. 1. The public is welcome to attend.

The tour schedule includes:

  • Redwood School – 1:10 p.m.
  • Kelly School – 1:30 p.m.
  • Mt. Pleasant School – 2 p.m.
  • St. Cloud School – 2:30 p.m.
  • Gregory School – 2:50 p.m.
  • Hazel School – 3:10 p.m.
  • Washington School – 3:40 p.m.
