Cab Driver Fatally Shot, Crashes Car In Essex County, NJ

Authorities are investigating the fatal shooting of a livery cab driver in Orange.

ORANGE, NJ — Authorities are investigating the fatal shooting of a livery cab driver in Orange late Wednesday night.

Orange police officers arrived at the 200 block of Snyder Street around 11 p.m. on a report of a car crash. When police arrived on the scene, they discovered that the crashed cab’s driver, Jonas Larose, 55, of East Orange, was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office stated.

Authorities pronounced Larose dead at 11:36 p.m.

The incident is being investigated by the Essex County Prosecutor's Major Crimes Task Force and the Orange Police Department. An investigation is active and ongoing. Anyone with information can call the Prosecutor's Tips Line at (877) 847-7432.
