Bethany Baptist Church

The Oratorio Society of New Jersey (OSNJ) will get your summer started on the right note with the third annual installment of the return of its "summer sings," where the audience becomes the performers. The event will take place at Newark’s historic Bethany Baptist Church on Wednesday, June 3, at 7 pm.
Choral singers and enthusiasts are invited to join the OSNJ as they sing through one of the most popular and revered choral masterpieces – Mozart’s Requiem. The piece will be conducted by OSNJ's music director Sándor Szabó, with professional soloists and accompaniment. The evening will also include a sampling of the American spirituals that OSNJ recently performed at their spring “America Inspired” concert. The audience is welcome to join in or to listen.
Bring your own scores of Mozart’s Requiem or borrow one of ours. Scores for the spirituals will be provided for those who wish to join in.
There’s free parking in the church parking lot at Hudson and Warren Streets and public transportation via NJ Transit bus route #34. The suggested donation is $15.

Dining, shopping, and dressing up - it doesn’t get much better than that! 
Girls’ Night Out is hosted annually on the first Thursday evening in June. Women from Millburn, Short Hills, and the surrounding towns all head to Downtown Millburn for shopping specials, giveaways, and a dedicated night to explore the shops in their favorite town. Local businesses offer discounts, promos, free swag, special themed items, raffles, games, snacks, and more! A great chance to connect with your favorite businesses in town and discover new ones, all while spending a fun evening out with your girlfriends.
This year’s theme is 90s music, so grab your glitter and get ready to rock!
This year’s event will be centralized to one main area; event will take place on the main stretch of Millburn Ave from the intersection of Town Hall Plaza to the intersection of Lackawanna Place. Plan to park in our parking deck on Essex St (first hour is free!) and walk over to Millburn Ave. Start at one end of the event and make your way down to visit all of our business store-fronts and sidewalk tables. Enjoy live music/DJs as you stroll down the sidewalk and into store-fronts, and be sure to find our “roller girls” to get some fun prizes and complimentary glitter face painting.
Shop until you drop - shop locally for a chance to win! Receive a special EMSH envelope at the event, add all of your shopping receipts the envelope, fill out your info, and drop your envelope full of receipts into one of our mailboxes for a chance to win a $50 gift card to a business of your choice! Students from Livingston High School’s Theatre Arts 1 program will take center stage in a heartwarming and imaginative production of The Adventures of Little Billy: In Search of the Magic Tree&nbsp;on Monday, June 15, 2026 at 7:00 PM in the Livingston High School Auditorium. This special event is open to the public with free general admission.
This special performance represents the culmination of a semester-long final project that brings together students from all grade levels and a wide range of abilities. Tasked with adapting the beloved children’s story into a short, touring theatrical production, students have collaborated on every aspect of the show—from storytelling and character development to staging and performance.
More than just a play, Little Billy is designed with a meaningful mission: to inspire young audiences. Following its debut, the production is intended to tour local elementary schools, sharing powerful lessons about courage, kindness, perseverance, and self-discovery.

Adding to the excitement of the evening, Little Billy—who serves as an ambassador to the Tamerlaine Sanctuary &amp; Preserve—will be represented through a special animal ambassador appearance from the sanctuary. This unique experience will give children and families the opportunity to connect with animals while learning an important message about compassion, empathy, and caring for all living beings.
Best-selling author Barry Farber brings his special edition hardcover children’s book and animated TV series, The Adventures of Little Billy: In Search of the Magic Tree, to an exciting step forward in a new stage adaptation, coming to life through the creativity and passion of Livingston High School’s student performers. Farber will be on hand to sign copies of the special edition hardcover copy of the book following the performance, and a portion of proceeds from book sales will benefit the Tamerlaine Animal Sanctuary &amp; Preserve.

“This project is about more than theatre,” said program representatives. “It’s about giving students a voice, fostering collaboration, and using storytelling as a way to positively impact younger children in our community.”

It’s a party, with an awesome band! It’s an evening full of music, friends, playing, listening, singing, dancing and rocking together.
**For half of the evening members sign up beforehand to lead a song that you choose, no originals, backed by our spectacular rock band! So, join us and sing your heart out!
**The other half of the evening will be performed by a member who wants to accompany themselves.
**Attendees are encouraged to bring their instruments and play along from the audience.
Lyrics and chords are projected on screen so audience members can sing along or play along from their seats on acoustic instruments. If you attended last year’s rock party, you’ll be back. The music and the spirit are over-the-top fun.

She has performed her clever songs in 34 states and 3 countries. Carla’s 9 CDs have been featured on the BBC, Dr. Demento, Sirius XM Comedy Radio, the USA Network, PBS, and NPR’s Weekend Edition.
David Roth is a singer, songwriter, music educator, and recording artist whose songs have found their way to Carnegie Hall, the United Nations, several Chicken Soup for the Soul books, the Kennedy Center, Peter, Paul, &amp; Mary and Kingston Trio CDs, NASA’s Goddard Space Center (his song “Rocket Science” sailed on the Space Shuttle Atlantis in 2009), the Rise Up Singing and Rise Again (sequel) songbooks, and 15 CDs on the Wind River and Stockfisch (Germany) labels.&nbsp;&nbsp; The Chicago native is also the Executive Director of SummerSongs songwriting camp (NY), the Cape Cod Songwriters Retreats, and host/founder of the Cape’s Full Moon Open Mic (entering its 21st year), providing a forum for community-building and raising money for local non-profits to help neighbors in need.
Rob Paravonian is a standup comedian known the world over for his Pachelbel Rant and viral videos which have been viewed millions of times. With the mind of a comedian and the soul of a musician, Rob Paravonian seamlessly fuses sharp comedy performances with top notch musicianship. Rob has opened for George Carlin and Lily Tomlin and has toured everywhere from Alaska to Afghanistan. His songs and performances have appeared on Comedy Central, VH1, SiriusXM, The Dr. Demento Show, and more.&nbsp;Todd Chappelle is a comedy songwriter who does a mix of funny original songs and parodies. His music is influenced by such artists as Weird Al Yankovic and Tom Lehrer. Todd’s music has been heard on The Dr. Demento Show, CNN Radio, the BBC and Good Day Philadelphia. He is a past winner of the Delmarva Folk Hero contest, and he appeared in the PBS programs “Dela-Where?” (2015), “Dela-Where? 2” (2015), “Dela-Where Else?” (2016) and “Counter Culture” (2019). With a quick wit and a powerful voice, Todd is a dynamic live act who has performed at the New York Funny Songs Festival, the Philadelphia Folk Festival and the Chicago Comedy Rock Festival, along with numerous venues throughout the Northeast.
