Cops ID N.J. Toddler, Uncle Shot And Killed Near School
A gunman opened fire on a N.J. family as they sat on their porch, killing a toddler and his uncle and wounding the boy's father, police say.
ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — An unknown gunman opened fire on a family as they sat on their porch in Orange on Thursday afternoon, killing a toddler and his 21-year-old uncle and wounding the boy’s father, police say.
Authorities released additional information about the shooting on Friday - which took place at a home near Cleveland Street Elementary School - including the identities of the deceased victims: 21-month-old Marcus Milien and his 21-year-old uncle, Morlens Milice.
In addition, the toddler’s father - whose name was not released – suffered a gunshot wound and was hospitalized in stable condition, police said.

Authorities said that a fourth victim - a 15-year-old male – also suffered non-life-threatening injuries during the attack. Emergency responders treated and released the teen, police said.
The shooting took place near Cleveland Street Elementary School.

“A preliminary investigation indicates that the victims were sitting on the front porch of a two-family home when a gunman walked up to the porch and opened fire on the group,” the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office stated.
The victims then attempted to run inside the house, at which point the shooter fled, police said.
An investigation is ongoing, police stated.
