Cops Offer $10,000 Reward For Info In Essex County Murder Case

Alim Abdul-Ghafer, 35, was shot in the hallway of his Newark residence on July 3.

The Essex County Sheriff’s Office is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in a Newark murder case.

According to police, Alim Abdul-Ghafer, age 35, was fatally shot in the hallway of his residence at 270 Washington Street around 8:30 p.m. on Friday, July 3.

He was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:48 p.m.

The homicide is being investigated by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department.
