East Orange Man Fatally Shot, Cops Seek Info: VIDEO Surveillance Released

James Rhodes was found lying in a Camden alleyway Friday night. He was pronounced dead shortly thereafter, authorities say.

Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a person of interest in connection with the fatal shooting of an East Orange man in Camden over the weekend.

Surveillance footage shows 24-year-old James Rhodes walking with a black man wearing a red shirt and dark pants in an alleyway between North Constitution Road and North Congress Road shortly before Camden County Police discovered Rhodes’s body in that area at about 9:20 p.m. Friday night.

After police discovered Rhodes, he was transported to Cooper University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:40 p.m.

The video also shows the man running in the opposite direction of the homicide scene shortly thereafter.

Members of the public should not approach this man, but should call police if they have information pertaining to his identity or whereabouts.
