Learn about General McClellan from his arrival in West Orange in 1863 to his death here in 1885, including the reasons he came to West orange and where he made his home on the ridge. From here he opposed Abraham Lincoln in the presidential election of 1864 and served as New Jersey Governor from 1878 until 1881. McClellan's lasting West Orange legacy is the St. Cloud Presbyterian Church which he helped found in 1877.
