A fire broke out around 11 a.m. at a one-family home on South Valley Road Sunday.
No one was injured in the blaze, which was called in by the residents of the home before they evacuated the house.
West Orange firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene. Fire officials are investigating the cause of the fire, which appeared to begin in the basement of the home.

Grace Vietropinto, a neighbor who lives near the home, said she saw dark, black smoke coming from the house by the time the fire department was already contacted.
"Smoke was coming out of the chimney and even out of the front door," she said.

Other neighbors said they saw police officers and firefighters arrive to fight the fire and contain the scene. The fire appeared to be under control within an hour. Though paramedics were on the scene, no injuries were reported from the fire.
