Essex County Man Killed In Rt. 280 Crash: Police

A Ford Mustang went off the road and hit a tree near Rt. 280 in Kearny. The crash claimed the life of a 41-year-old man, police said.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — New Jersey State Police are investigating a fatal crash in Kearny that claimed the life of a 41-year-old Essex County man Saturday night, authorities said.

Raymond Adolphus of East Orange was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash after the Ford Mustang he was driving allegedly left the road while headed for a ramp from Harrison Avenue to Route 280, police said.

After veering off the road, the car hit a tree and overturned. Adolphus, the sole occupant of the vehicle, wasn’t conscious when emergency responders arrived on the scene, authorities said.
