Free Workshop Has Info For Tenants, Landlords In Essex County

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Landlords and tenants have rights – and responsibilities – in New Jersey, and a free upcoming workshop will help Essex County residents become more informed about both.
The Superior Court of New Jersey/Essex County Vicinage will hold a public seminar from 6 to 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 28 at the East Orange Public Library, 21 South Arlington Avenue, East Orange.

According to organizers, the seminar will focus on current landlord/tenant court processes in New Jersey. Staff from the Essex Vicinage and representatives from local agencies will discuss a variety of available services, with a focus on resources for landlords and tenants.

- the voluntary pretrial/settlement conference process
- the courts’ role in handling eviction complaints
- the rights and responsibilities of landlords
- the rights and responsibilities of tenants
- the services of the Judiciary Ombudsman Program
