Glen Ridge Cop Sees Assault In West Orange, Stops To Help: Police

A Glen Ridge police captain lent aid to a West Orange officer after observing an assault on Harrison Avenue, authorities said.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A Glen Ridge police captain lent aid to a West Orange officer after observing an assault on Harrison Avenue earlier this month, authorities said.

According to the Glen Ridge Police Department, Captain Sean Quinn allegedly saw an assault in progress while traveling on Harrison Avenue in West Orange around 5 p.m. on March 9. As the victim flagged down a West Orange police officer who was in the area, Quinn was able to stop one of two suspects who attempted to flee the scene.

The suspect that Quinn stopped, Imani Lewis, 22, of East Orange, was found to be in possession of a firearm at the time, the Glen Ridge Police Department stated.

Lewis was turned over to the West Orange Police Department and charged with possession of a firearm and aggravated assault, authorities said.

No additional information about the alleged assault was immediately available.
