Grand Opening Nears For Target Store In West Orange, Hiring Continues
The new Target will be located at the spot where a Kmart once stood. Here's when it will open.

WEST ORANGE, NJ — Opening day is approaching for a highly anticipated Target store in Essex County.
The new Target at 235 Prospect Avenue in West Orange will officially open to the public on Sunday, March 29.
The 150,000 square foot store will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Services include drive up, order pickup and same-day delivery with Target Circle 360, with next-day delivery available to all of West Orange. The store also features a CVS Pharmacy, Starbucks Café and Target Optical.

Target spokespeople said the new store is expected to employ about 280 team members. Several open positions were listed on the company’s website as of Friday, including cashier, sales, security and stock, as well as a barista at the Starbucks. Pay rates range from $18 per hour to $27 per hour.

The new store is located at West Orange Plaza, which recently announced new leases for three other businesses. The shopping center – which is anchored by a Whole Foods supermarket – launched a multi-million-dollar, property-wide renovation last year.
The West Orange location is Target's 55th store in New Jersey. Other nearby stores are located in Clifton, Fairfield, Kearny, Paramus and Vauxhall. A new location is also opening in Jersey City this month.
