GARBAGE - "The first winter storm is expected during the overnight hours and will impact conditions for Friday morning. Due to the expected snowfall and the timing, garbage collection for Friday, January 7, will be canceled. Garbage collection will resume for Saturday’s normal scheduled pickup."

TRANSPORTATION - "The Senior Citizen Transportation program will also be canceled for Friday but the Commuter Jitney program will remain scheduled until a final decision can be made in the overnight hours. Commuter Jitney riders should check the township website, Facebook and text messages for service updates. The expected timing of this snowfall is likely to impact Jitney and train services."

POWER OUTAGES - "To report downed wires or power outages, call PSE&G’s Customer Service line at 1-800-436-PSEG. Or residents can report outages by logging into their PSE&G account online or by texting “OUT” to 4PSEG (47734)."

OTHER CONCERNS - "To report problems or concerns during the storm, email the township at snow@westorange.org."

"Residents are asked to avoid parking on township streets or county roads, wherever possible, to allow for public works crews to clear roadways," Parisi added. "Snow clearing and removal will continue long after the snow stops, and we ask all residents to remain patient."

The mayor continued:

"The timing of this storm will present more challenges than the accumulation and residents are encouraged to stay off the roads in the morning hours. However, if you need to be on the road in the morning, you should plan for delays and inconveniences. We thank all residents in advance for your patience and understanding. Thank you … and be safe."
