New Target Store Opens In West Orange At Former K-Mart Space

WEST ORANGE, NJ — It’s finally open, West Orange.

For the past year, West Orange residents and Essex County shoppers have been buzzing about a new Target store coming to the West Orange Plaza. The store – which is located at 235 Prospect Avenue – marked its grand opening on Sunday.

The 150,000 square foot store is open daily from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Services include drive up, order pickup and same-day delivery with Target Circle 360, with next-day delivery available to all of West Orange. The store also features a CVS Pharmacy, Starbucks Café and Target Optical.

Target spokespeople said the store is expected to employ about 280 team members.

The new store will be located at the spot where a Kmart once stood. The location is Target's 55th store in New Jersey.

Max Gagneon, vice president of construction for Levin Management, said the new Target store is an “an important milestone” for the West Orange Plaza.

The shopping center – which is anchored by a Whole Foods supermarket – has also seen other new tenants arrive over the past year. According to Levin Management, the shopping center’s leasing agent, it has secured new leases with VIO Med Spa, Quickway Japanese Hibachi, Club Pilates, and Namkeen Hot Chicken Joint.

Other businesses with locations at West Orange Plaza include Frank's Pizza, America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses, Chipotle, Jersey Mike’s Subs, Verizon, My Gym, and Dogtopia.
