Prosecutor: Raids Produce Drug and Gun Arrests in Orange

AK-47 assault rifle, hollow point bullets, heroin, cocaine and cash seized

Officers from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force conducted two raids on Wednesday in Orange, resulting in two arrests and the seizure of a cache of weapons and drugs, according to police.

On the 500 block of Lincoln Avenue, detectives seized a loaded AK-47 assault weapon with two additional magazines, including one fully loaded, 3,500 packets of heroin with a street value of $28,000, a small amount of marijuana and $16,580 in cash.

On Tuesday, Edward McNealy, 26, of Orange, surrendered to the Prosecutor’s Office in connection with the alleged offenses. McNealy was charged with the possession of the assault weapon, unlawful possession of hollow point bullets and possession of a high capacity magazine. He was also charged with possession of heroin, distribution, and distribution within 1,000 feet of Heyward Avenue School.

At the second address on the 400 block of Scotland Road, detectives seized 70 grams of cocaine with a street value of $3,150, drug paraphernalia and $1,360 in cash.

Raheem Garner, 37, of Orange, was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute. Bail was set at $200,000, and he was remanded to the Essex Correctional Facility.
