Record Number Of Women Emerge Victorious In NJ Primary Election

59 female candidates will compete this November for seats in the New Jersey State Assembly… an all-time record for the state.

A record number of women will compete this November for seats in the New Jersey State Assembly, researchers announced Wednesday.

Following Tuesday’s Primary Election, 59 female candidates earned their party’s nomination in the 2019 General Election. The total shatters the previous record of 53 women candidates, which was set in 2017, the Center for American Women and Politics (CAWP) reported.

The record for the New Jersey State Senate, also set in 2017, is 25 female candidates. That record will next be challenged in 2021.
