Shauger Group Donates Gift Cards to Jersey City Essential Workers

After Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop appealed to the community to help Jersey City restaurants struggling because of the COVID-19 pandemic, The Shauger Group was compelled to answer the call.

In an effort to support local restaurants, as well as local front line workers putting their lives on the line fighting the battle against COVID-19, The Shauger Group donated $5,000 in Jersey City restaurant gift cards to emergency workers on January 29, 2021. The 50 $100 gift cards will be distributed to essential emergency workers throughout Jersey City, including workers at Jersey City Medical Center.

The Shauger Group's donation was made in conjunction with Jersey City Restaurant Week, which is running from January 26 to February 9. Over 100 Jersey City restaurants are participating in Restaurant Week, which is hosted by the Jersey City Special Improvement District and Jersey City Restaurant Association.

At a time when so many individuals and small businesses are struggling to stay afloat, The Shauger Group has made an effort over the past year to help others through the difficulty of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Shauger Group has donated thousands of meals, as well as 1,000 Dunkin’ Donuts gift cards, to essential emergency workers over the last year, partnering with SUEZ for many of those donation projects.

The Shauger Group’s support of Jersey City front line workers, specifically, has included donations to Jersey City Medical Center, Christ Hospital in Jersey City, the Jersey City Emergency Services Unit, the Jersey City Office of Emergency Management, the Jersey City Fire Department, and the Jersey City Municipal Utilities Authority. The Shauger Group has also made miscellaneous donations to essential workers in other municipalities, including Kearny, Newark, Bloomfield, Irvington, Roseland, Orange, West Orange, Belleville, Bayonne, Hoboken, Livingston, and East Orange.
