Taxi Driver Shot In Face In East Orange, Drives Himself To Police Station

A taxi driver and father of four drove more than half a mile after being shot in the face, reports say.

A taxi driver and father of four reportedly drove himself more than half a mile to an East Orange police station after being shot in the face while on duty Monday.

According to reports, Elidieu Collin, 43, a driver with Classic Taxi in Newark, was responding to a pick up call placed by a female on Davis Place in East Orange around 2:30 a.m.

And that’s when a bullet came crashing through the window, reports say.

Amazingly, after being shot, Collin managed to drive himself to an East Orange Police Department station on South Munn Avenue.

Emergency responders transported him to University Hospital in Newark, where he underwent surgery.

“He consciously drove himself to the precinct,” a company dispatcher told CBS New York. “It’s a miracle. Everybody here is just astonished by what happened.”
