Weekend Weather Forecast In West Orange Shows Rain – Then Sunshine

WEST ORANGE, NJ — Tired of rain, flood warnings and ugly weather in West Orange? It may get worse before it gets better, forecasters say.

West Orange and other parts of New Jersey are still reeling from this week’s winter storm, which dumped several inches of rainfall across the Garden State and prompted flood warnings. Roadways in the area have been soaked with the deluge – leaving some drivers stranded – and local rivers in Essex County have been seeing troubling spikes above their flood levels.

The good news? This weekend may bring some rays of sunshine to the area – literally.

The bad news? Things are likely to get wet again on Friday evening.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), a Hazardous Weather Outlook and a Flood Watch are in effect for the area until Saturday morning.

Here is the NWS’ latest weather forecast for West Orange:

Friday: Increasing clouds, with a high near 48. Calm wind becoming east around 6 mph in the afternoon.

Friday Night: Rain, with thunderstorms also possible after 2am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Temperature falling to near 40 by 8pm, then rising to around 52 during the remainder of the night. Breezy, with an east wind 9 to 14 mph increasing to 16 to 21 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 38 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Saturday: A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly before 8am. Mostly sunny, with a temperature falling to around 46 by 5pm. Breezy, with a southwest wind 8 to 13 mph becoming west 16 to 21 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 32 mph.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 27. Wind chill values between 15 and 20. West wind 14 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph.

Sunday: A slight chance of rain and snow showers after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 37. Breezy, with a southwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 20.

Monday (Martin Luther King Day): Mostly sunny, with a high near 30.

Monday Night: A 30 percent chance of snow after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 23.
