West Orange Cops: Man Was ‘Targeted,’ Gunfire Reported Near Lowell Place
West Orange police say a Thursday night incident that left a local man with minor injuries was "not a random act."

WEST ORANGE, NJ — West Orange police say a Thursday night incident that left a local man with minor injuries was “not a random act.”
According to the West Orange Police Department, officers received reports of shots fired in the area of Lowell Place around 10 p.m. A Lowell Place resident told officers that a man approached him from behind and that he put up a struggle, causing cuts and bruises to his hands in the process.
“It appears the victim was targeted,” police stated in a news release.

Emergency responders treated the man on scene and he refused further medical attention, police said.
“Robbery is not believed to be a motive in this incident,” police said. “The victim is cooperating and this is an active investigation.”

West Orange police are searching for a dark-colored Nissan Altima that witnesses say may be connected to the incident, authorities stated. Anyone with information can call the West Orange Police Department at (973) 325-4000.
