West Orange Dad, Software Expert Trying To Foster STEM With Enrichment Program

Technology for Youth "juxtaposes the building blocks of coding with real life applications," West Orange's Omari Edwards says.

WEST ORANGE, NJ — A West Orange parent and software analytics expert is trying to foster STEM learning in Essex County with the launch of a technology (STEM) enrichment program geared at grades K-12 that “juxtaposes the building blocks of coding with real life applications.”

“Technology for Youth” is set to launch on Sept. 30, according to founder Omari Edwards, a West Orange resident with children in grades 1 and 4 and the manager of software analytics company, Beak.

“This summer, we launched this STEM enrichment program as a pilot at Seton Hall University and it was a huge success,” Edwards said. “We've been asked to bring the program back for the fall, which we're positioning as our official launch. What makes the program different is that all of the instructors are experienced engineers/programmers- real world practitioners - most with over 15 years of technology experience, including myself. Also, what really drives the difference home is our price, where we make learning how to code accessible for most children.”
