The New Jersey Clean Communities Council (NJCCC) and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) awarded the grant to the township during a ceremony on May 14 in Rahway.

According to township officials, some of the funds will be used to hire additional litter patrol staff and install more trash and recycling receptacles in West Orange.

The rest of the money will be used to help cover the costs of cleaning out stormwater catch basins, which will reduce flooding by removing sediment and debris that accumulates in the drainage system.
