West Orange HS Color Guard Hosts State Competition

The WOHS senior guard's exhibition performance was choreographed to Ed Sheeran's "Photograph."

West Orange, NJ - The West Orange High School Winter Color Guard hosted the 11th Annual Mid-Atlantic Indoor Competition (MAIN) last month in the Tarnoff Gymnasium.

Featuring 29 color guards in several divisions from around the state, the Jan. 31 event included an exhibition performance from the WOHS Junior and Senior Winter Color Guards.

During the performance, the WOHS senior guard debuted their new competition routine, choreographed to Ed Sheeran’s “Photograph.”

The WOHS Winter Color Guard staff includes Jackie Milnes, director; Patrick McLaughlin, assistant director, and Erin Lagatic, advisor.

There are four graduating seniors in this year’s guard: Jeanne Machado, Connie Reznik, Catherine Salas, and Matthew Sarett.

The results of the Jan. 31 competition included:

Junior Clas​s

  • 1st Place - Pegasus Too Jr.

Scholastic Novice Class

  • 3rd place - Morristown HS
  • 2nd place - South Plainfield HS
  • 1st place - Malverne HS

Independent Regional A Class

  • 3rd place East Side HS
  • 2nd place Pegasus Too
  • 1st place N-8 Winter Guard

Scholastic Regional A Class

  • 3rd place - Ramsey HS
  • 2nd place - Morris Hills HS
  • 1st place - Pequannock HS

Scholastic A Class

  • 3rd place West Milford HS
  • 2nd place Arlington HS
  • 1st place Bridgewater Raritan HS

Independent Open Class

  • 1st place Emanon Open

Independent World Class

  • 1st place Emanon World
