It is dedicated to creating a brighter and more sustainable future for both children and the environment. Since its inception it has transformed the lives of countless children while keeping plastic waste from landfills. According to their website SCT has kept over 1.5 million pounds of plastic from being buried in landfills to date.
SCT has been making a significant impact in communities across the nation by collecting and redistributing over 400,000 toys so far. The mission is not just about bringing happiness and smiles to children's faces, it is equally about being a responsible steward of the environment.

The West Orange Environmental Commission (WOEC) has partnered with SCT by placing a 20' trailer at the West Orange Recycling Center. They will be collecting gently used plastic toys from the community for SCT on Saturday, November 4th between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. The collected toys are subsequently cleaned and sanitized by WOEC members and volunteers with the help of the West Orange Department of Public Works to be made ready for their next adventure. Residents can contribute to the cause by dropping off donations or bringing something new to the trailer at the West Orange Recycling Center located at 590 Mt. Pleasant Avenue.
West Orange Mayor Susan McCartney first partnered with SCT in April 2009 as the Township Council President and Liaison to the West Orange Environmental Commission (WOEC). Mayor McCartney stated, “I want to express my gratitude and give a heartfelt thank you to the WOEC members and to the West Orange Department of Public Works for helping make this event a success in our community each year.”
