West Orange was one of four municipalities in the state to receive a "No Accidents" award.
WEST ORANGE, NJ — West Orange was one of four municipalities in the state to receive a “No Accidents” award from the Garden State Municipal Joint Insurance Fund (GSMJIF), town officials recently reported.
The GSMJIF manages a property and casualty fund that provides commercial insurance to municipalities, emphasizing long-term, cost-effective risk management strategies. West Orange is one of 36 municipalities across New Jersey that participates, officials said in a news release.
West Orange has earned a 2024 GSMJIF No Accidents Award, which reflects the township’s commitment to proactive safety measures and effective risk management, officials said.

As part of the "No Accidents Today" program, participating municipalities were required to reduce the frequency of reported claims in key categories: Auto Liability/Auto Physical Damage, Property, and Workers’ Compensation by at least 20 percent compared to the previous year.
West Orange met or exceeded these targets, earning a $15,000 award.

While the prize funds may be used at each municipality's discretion, the GSMJIF recommends that the money be allocated toward safety-related initiatives that support ongoing and future risk management efforts.
