West Orange School Evacuated After Water Main Break
The main break shut down running water for drinking and bathrooms, West Orange school officials say.

WEST ORANGE, NJ — A water main break in the area of Edison Middle School in West Orange caused school administrators to evacuate the building and dismiss students early on Thursday, officials say.
A superintendent’s message on the West Orange Public School District’s website stated that the water main break shut down running water for drinking and bathrooms.
Students and staff were evacuated to Washington Elementary School in time for lunch to be served as scheduled, administrators said.

The school’s water provider told administrators that service wouldn’t be restored until 3 p.m., prompting an early dismissal, officials said.
Edison Middle School students will be dismissed on Thursday at 1:15 p.m. from Washington Elementary School. Busses for the students who normally ride a school bus will board their bus at 1:15 p.m. Students who walk will be dismissed at 1:15 p.m.
