West Orange Sees Counterfeit $100 Surge, Police Warn Business Owners

The Township of West Orange issued the following advisory on Wednesday:
“Recently, there have been several incidents involving fake or counterfeit $100 bills. These bills are reportedly $5 bills that are bleached/washed and reprinted as $100 bills. The group involved in the reported incidents are described as three to four males ranging in age from late teens to early 20’s, and are described as having thin builds. These incidents occurred in various locations throughout the township. Anyone who comes across a $100 bill that appears to be fake or suspicious in any way is asked to call the WEST ORANGE POLICE DEPARTMENT immediately at 973-325-4000 or 911 if necessary.”
