West Orange Stolen Car Recovered In Newark: Cops Use Helicopter To Locate Teen Suspect
Officers apprehended the teen and arrested him without incident, recovering a loaded handgun from the vehicle, police said.

WEST ORANGE, NJ — The Newark Police Department used its helicopter – NPD1 – to help apprehend a juvenile auto theft suspect who allegedly stole a car from West Orange last week, authorities say.
Police said that the incident began around 1 a.m. when officers spotted a 2002 Honda Accord at Quitman Street near the intersection of Martin Luther King Boulevard that had been reported stolen out of West Orange.
According to police, with the assistance of NPD1, officers on the ground located the vehicle at Murray Street, near the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue. The 15-year-old juvenile then exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

Officers apprehended the juvenile and arrested him without incident, recovering a loaded handgun from the vehicle, police said.
Authorities charged the juvenile with Receiving Stolen Property, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Criminal Mischief, Eluding and Resisting Arrest.
