West Orange Student Accepted To West Point, Follows In Father’s Footsteps

School administrators say that six West Orange High School students have been accepted into a military academy in the past 10 years.

WEST ORANGE, NJ — Another local student is headed west… to West Point, that is.

West Orange school administrators recently announced that WOHS senior Andrei Rosu has received an appointment to iconic U.S. military academy West Point, where he plans to major in business management and serve in the Combat Support Branch.

Rosu will be following in the footsteps of his father, Lt. Colonel (Ret.) Al Rosu, who served in the United States Army for 28 years and has logged many hours of community service in West Orange along with his wife, Candy, administrators stated.

“It’s always been my dream to attend West Point,” Rosu said. “It’s a great feeling to finally earn this appointment I’ve worked my whole life for. I am definitely excited to attend USMA for the next four years and serve in our military to give back to our country.”

According to school officials, the Rosus are proud products of the West Orange Public School District, with Andrei and his three siblings cracking the books at Redwood Elementary School, Thomas Edison Central Sixth, Liberty Middle School and West Orange High School.
