West Orange Student-Athletes Plan Medical, CPA Careers
A pair of standout athletes at West Orange High School have plans to become a physician assistant and a CPA.

WEST ORANGE, NJ — West Orange High School seniors E.J. (Eric) Akerblom and Meghan White were recently named as “Essex County Athletic Director's Association Scholar Athletes.”
According to a news release from district administrators:
- “Meghan is co-captain of the Girls Softball Team. Her GPA is 4.6261 and she is in the top five per cent of her class at WOHS. She is Secretary of the Math Honors Society and a member of the National Honors Society, and the Science National Honors Society. She is a member of the Science League and Sports Medicine Club and is also a Mountaineer Mentor. [She] will be attending Saint Francis University and plans to become a Physician Assistant.”
- “EJ is co-captain of the Lacrosse Team. His GPA is 4.47 and he is in the top five per cent of his class. He is the Treasurer of the Future Business Leaders of America Club (FBLA) and a member of the National Honor Society. He is a Mountaineer Mentor and volunteers at Kessler Rehabilitation Center in West Orange. EJ will be attending the University of Alabama and plans to become a CPA.”
Both athletes will be honored at the annual Essex County Athletic Director's Association Scholar Athletes Awards Dinner, to be held May 9 at Mayfair Farms.

"They truly represent West Orange High School and our commitment to academic excellence as well as well as providing our students the opportunities to grow as individuals. We know that both Meghan and EJ will go on to do great things in their communities and in the world.”
