West Orange Students Battle Summer Slide With Enrichment Program
More than 400 students participated in this year's program, West Orange school administrators said.
WEST ORANGE, NJ — Hundreds of West Orange students battled the summer slide this year by participating in the West Orange School District’s Summer Enrichment Program for 2016.
School administrators recently announced that 407 students participated in this year’s program, which will wrap up on July 29 with musical and dance performances by teachers and students, as well as a slideshow created by the tech class.
Program offerings this summer included science, math, technology, computers, English as a Second Language, music, band/orchestra, dance, drama, art, calligraphy, painting, ceramics, crafts and fitness classes.

“It’s amazing to witness what the teachers can do in a short time and what the students were able to learn in such a narrow window of instruction,” Lou Quagliato, Supervisor of Fine Arts for the West Orange School District said.
