West Orange Teen Caught With 3 Pounds Of Pot: Police

The Essex County teen is charged with selling to teens in Verona and West Orange, police say.

An 18-year-old Essex County resident was arrested and charged with allegedly selling marijuana to Verona and West Orange teens after police found three and a half pounds of pot at his home.

According to Verona police, the arrest on Monday was the result of a two-month long narcotics investigation.

“Information was learned that [the teen] was distributing marijuana to teens and young adults out of his vehicle in Verona, and also his home in West Orange,” Verona Police Department Captain Mitchell Stern stated.

“As a result of the investigation, search warrants were issued for [the teen's] home and vehicle,” Stern stated. “Verona police officers were assisted by West Orange police officers at the time of the execution of the search warrants.”

A search of the teen's home turned up about three and a half pounds of marijuana, with an approximate street value of $12,000, along with $1,700 in cash, authorities said.

Further investigation resulted in the seizure of an additional $32,000 which is believed to be proceeds from the sale of marijuana, police added.

The teen was released on bail and was scheduled to appear in Essex County Superior Court.
