Young Mother and Daughter Found Dead in Essex County: Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

Utilities had been shut off and victims were using gas generator, say authorities.

Two victims – believed to be a young mother and her daughter – were found dead on Wednesday morning in East Orange due to possible carbon monoxide poisoning.

According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, a preliminary investigation indicated that a utility provider shut off power at the victims’ Dodd Street home on Tuesday, and the victims were using a gas generator without proper ventilation.

There are no signs of foul play or trauma at this time, stated authorities in a release.

The victims’ names and ages are being confirmed. Additional information will be released when it becomes available, stated the ECPO.

According to county tax records, the Dodd Street property has been owned by Wells Fargo Bank since 2010.
