Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrests of MONICA PETERS-GORE (DOB: 8/19/1968; single; unemployed) of 74 Stuyvesant Road, Teaneck, NJ and GARY L. WILLIAMS (DOB: 10/27/1982; single; unemployed) of 122 Humphrey Street, Apt 1, Englewood, NJ on charges of robbery and unlawful weapon possession. These arrests are the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Englewood Police Department.

On Thursday, July 15, 2021, at approximately 3:50 a.m., a robbery occurred at a convenience store located at 476 Grand Avenue, Englewood, NJ. Video surveillance revealed that two individuals entered the store, and one of them forced the lone employee to the ground at knifepoint while the other removed several cartons of cigarettes. Both actors then fled the store in an unknown direction.

An investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Squad and the Englewood Police Department identified MONICA PETERS-GORE as one of the actors. A few hours after the robbery, PETERS-GORE was arrested by members of the Teaneck Police Department following a motor vehicle stop. Additionally, evidence tying GARY L. WILLIAMS to the robbery was discovered during the motor vehicle stop.

On July 21, 2021, detectives from the Englewood Police Department arrested GARY L. WILLIAMS without incident.

PETERS-GORE and WILLIAMS were each charged with one count of first-degree robbery, N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1a(1); one count of third-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4d; and one count of third-degree possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5d. PETERS-GORE and WILLIAMS were both remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending their appearances in Central Judicial Processing Court.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and would like to thank the Englewood Police Department and the Teaneck Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
