Bergen County Habitat For Humanity Builds Homes For Hounds

Bergen County volunteers will unveil custom dog houses as part of a veteran's housing fundraiser on Saturday in Westwood.

WESTWOOD, NJ — Habitat for Humanity of Bergen County is making it clear that they don't just build homes for mankind, but for man's best friend as well.

This Saturday, volunteers will cap off a recent fundraising initiative, Homes for Hounds with a special unveiling of custom-made dog houses.

Five teams built five dog houses, and a winner will be announced in an event, held in the parking lot of the Habitat ReStore in Westwood, 121 Carver Ave.

Though the doghouses will highlight the event, raffles and other activities will be happening.

All proceeds from the event will benefit Habitat for Humanities current project at 95 Sand Road in Westwood, which is a single-family home for a veteran family.

According to the organization, work has begun on the site, and volunteers will start helping later this fall.
