Cardinals soar over Bridgeman

The Westwood Cardinals go to 3-1 on the season after rolling over Fort Lee

Saturday night pitted two evenly matched teams against each other as the Cardinals of Westwood took on the Fort Lee Bridgeman. Westwood got into the game hot after dismantling both Englewood and Dumont, while the Bridgeman were looking to get to .500.

The Cardinals struck early with their potent ground game and opened up a 20-6 lead. However Fort Lee's Tyler Sanders wouldn't lay down or quit, racking up 62 yards receiving and 42 yards rushing, not to mention a 71-yard kick return which brought Fort Lee within a score. By halftime Westwood had a comfortable 28-14 lead.

After a 30-minute delay for "thunder," which turned out to be Demearst Day fireworks, the Cardinals came out fired up and ready to build on their lead. Westwood's ground and pound game was led by senior Pete Creamer who ran for more than 125 yards and scored a total of four rushing touchdowns. Ryan Galloway of Westwood, not to be outdone, added two touchdowns of his own.

The Bridgeman continued to fight back on the legs of Frankie Goris, but in the end Westwood proved too powerful for Fort  Lee and finished off their 48-20 victory.
